It is produced only in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, around the town of San Daniele in the north-eastern part of Italy. This prosciutto sets itself apart with its guitar-like shape, the presence of the trotter and the Consortium brand, and it is made solely of the meat of pigs born and bred in Italy. The pigs are fed on a specific diet, based on quality cereals and whey. In San Daniele the maturing stage has to last for at least 13 months
